As a small business, you'll know all too well that your IT System is critical to the running of your business. More often than not, it's the core of any business. Technology has developed so fast over the past few years and we are becoming more dependent on it.

The data within your computer or server is stored on a device called a hard drive or a hard disk.
Unfortunately, these devices often fail, resulting in significant data loss and downtime.
This is why RAID was developed.
Raid stands for: Redundant Array of Independent Disks

Raid is a collection of disks that are configured in such a way that results in less downtime and less data loss should a disaster occur. There are several RAID Levels or RAID configurations available which all set out to achieve higher redundancy and reliability - all except RAID ZERO that is.

The main purpose of RAID is to provide data redundancy. Typically, if a hard drive fails, you'll find that you are unable to continue working, With RAID implemented, it's actually possible to continue working. This is because data is written across several disks rather than just one. Some RAID levels allow you to remove a faulty disk whilst leaving your users unaffected.

RAID is particularly useful for  critical machines and servers.
SysFix Group are able to consult on business redundancy and provide a solution that allows a business to continue working in the event of a disaster.
