Hove Cadet Aims to Make a Difference Through Charity Mountain Challenge

Teenagers are often unfairly criticised by society, facing stereotypes and blame. However, 16-year-old Roberta "Bobbi" Sancha from No 1 (Brighton) Detachment, Delta Company, Sussex Army Cadet Force, is set to challenge these misconceptions.

Three Peaks Challenge to support Walking with the Wounded

Over June 18th and 19th, 2024, Cadet Corporal Sancha will undertake the demanding Three Peaks Challenge to support 'Walking with the Wounded', a charity aiding UK's wounded veterans.

'Walking with the Wounded' plays a crucial role in helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life by securing employment and providing necessary mental and physical support.

Cadet Corporal Sancha, moved by the veterans' struggles to find employment post-service, committed to this cause to acknowledge and support those who risk their lives for national safety.

What Does The Challenge Involve?

The challenge involves scaling the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales—Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon—covering a combined height of 9,800 feet and 42 kilometers in just 36 hours. Despite the grueling nature feared by seasoned climbers, Cadet Corporal Sancha is determined to complete it.

Since joining the Sussex Army Cadet Force in June 2021, she has seized every opportunity to lead and inspire. Her commanding officer's words, that 'Delta' signifies 'the difference' in Greek, have motivated her to drive positive change and set an example within the community.

Cadet Corporal Sancha is an inspiration and a fantastic role model to other cadets at our detachment. I wish her all the best in her journey!
